To clear the extra rush of passengers during the forthcoming Onam Festival, Southern Railway has notified the operation of special weekly express trains between Ernakulam and Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal SMVT) Bengaluru for five trips In each direction.

Train No. 06147 Ernakulam-SMVT Bengaluru Weekly Express Special will depart from Ernakulam at 23:10 hrs every Sunday from 09.08.2026 to 06.09.2026 and will arrive at SMVT Bengaluru at 12:45 rs the following day.

In the return direction, Train No. 06148 SMVT Bengaluru Ernakulam Weekly Express Special will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 16:00 hrs every Monday from 10.08.2026 to 07.09.2026 and will arrive at Ernakulam at 05:45 hrs the following day.

En route, the special trains will halt at Aluva, Thrissur, Palakkad Jn, Podanur Jn, Tiruppur, Erode Jn, Salem Jn, Kuppam, Bangarapet Jn, and Krishnarajapuram stations in both directions.

The special trains will comprise 22 LHB coaches, consisting of 2 AC Two Tier Coaches, 3 AC Three Tier Coaches, 7 AC Three Tier Economy Coaches, 4 Sleeper Class Coaches, 4 General Second Class Coaches and 2 Luggage-cum- Brake Generator Vans.
