To ensure a safe and comfortable journey for passengers traveling to celebrate Chhath Puja, South Eastern Railway (SER) arranged 36 pairs of Festival Special trains across various routes. A total of 160 trips were operated, with services planned well in advance and continued even after the festival to manage returning passenger flows. In SER jurisdiction, Special trains were run from Santragachi to Patna, Mumbai, Chennai, Puri, Secunderabad, and Pune; from Shalimar to Chennai, Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam, and Tirunelveli; from Ranchi to Gorakhpur, Madar, Jaynagar, and Anand Vihar; and from Tatanagar to Buxar and Katihar.

Additional arrangements included crowd management at stations, RPF-supervised queues for unreserved coaches, and enhanced security with extra RPF personnel. Emergency Duty officials were deployed at major stations, and frequent announcements of train arrivals and departures were made. "May I Help You" booths were operational at key stations with RPF staff and TTEs for assistance. Cleanliness and medical facilities were prioritized at major stations.

For the 2024 Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath rush, Indian Railways operated 7,663 special train services between 1st October and 30th November, a 73% increase from last year. On 4th November 2024, Indian Railways carried a record 120.72 lakh passengers, surpassing previous single-day figures.
