Nilgiri Mountain Railway Cancels Train Services on October 27, 28 and 29 Due to Heavy Rainfall

The Nilgiri region is experiencing heavy rainfall, resulting in landslides at several locations. Boulders and mud have fallen onto railway tracks, while trees have also fallen across the tracks, obstructing train movement. Due to these adverse conditions, the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) has cancelled the following passenger train services on October 27, 28 and 29, 2026.

Train No. 56136, the Mettupalayam–Udagamandalam Passenger Train, has been cancelled on all three dates.

Similarly, Train No. 56137, the Udagamandalam–Mettupalayam Passenger Train, has also been cancelled on October 27, 28 and 29, 2026.

Work is underway to remove obstructions and restore railway services. However, continuous rainfall is hampering restoration efforts, while the difficult terrain is posing significant challenges. Railway personnel are engaged in restoration work despite the adverse weather conditions and are making efforts to clear the tracks and resume train services.

Passengers are requested to visit the Indian Railways website (www.enquiry.indianrail.gov.in), dial 139, or download the NTES app for detailed arrival and departure timings at the respective stations.
