In a major relief for commuters traveling between south and north-east Bihar, the Railway has decided to continue the service of 03407/03408 Bhagalpur - Katihar - Bhagalpur Unreserved Special train with existing path, timings and stoppages upto 10.07. 2026 . This vital rail link was initially introduced following severe disruptions to road connectivity caused by damage to the Vikramshila Setu over the river Ganga, which completely halted direct vehicular movement between Bhagalpur and the Seemanchal region. Recognizing the immense hardship faced by daily commuters, office-goers, traders, and local farmers, the railways had previously stepped in to operate the special unreserved service between Bhagalpur & Katihar upto 22.06.2026.
