Ms. Gitika Pandey, General Manager, Eastern Railway, inspected Kolkata Railway Station to review passenger amenities, safety and security arrangements and ongoing development initiatives aimed at further improving the overall passenger experience.
She was accompanied by Shri Rajeev Saxena, Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah Division, along with senior officers from Eastern Railway Headquarters and Sealdah Division.
During the inspection, Ms. Pandey reviewed various passenger amenities and facilities available at the station and took stock of safety and security arrangements across the station premises. She emphasised maintaining high standards of cleanliness, passenger convenience and safety, along with effective crowd and passenger movement management.
The General Manager was also briefed through a PowerPoint presentation on the proposed yard remodelling of Kolkata Station. The presentation covered the proposed improvements and modernisation of the station yard. Ms. Pandey reviewed the ongoing and upcoming development works and stressed timely execution, meticulous planning and close coordination among all concerned departments and agencies.
Ms. Pandey also visited the Immigration Centre at Kolkata Station, which caters to international passengers. She reviewed the infrastructure, passenger-handling facilities and other arrangements at the centre and interacted with the officials concerned.
The General Manager reiterated that passenger safety, security, comfort and convenience remain among Eastern Railway’s foremost priorities and advised officials to maintain sustained focus on providing passengers with a safe, clean, efficient and comfortable travel experience.
