In a significant initiative to improve women’s hygiene and menstrual health facilities, telecom infrastructure company Indus Towers, in partnership with Northern Railway, has installed 500 sanitary napkin vending machines under its CSR programme, Nari Samman. The machines have been deployed across 175 railway stations in the Delhi, Firozpur, Ambala, Moradabad and Lucknow divisions. Equipped with IoT-enabled monitoring systems, they provide free sanitary napkins to women passengers round the clock, helping address an essential hygiene need during travel.

The initiative aims to make railway stations more women-friendly while promoting menstrual hygiene awareness and improving access to basic healthcare amenities in public spaces. According to the release, the vending machines have dispensed approximately 3 crore sanitary napkins to date, highlighting the scale and impact of the programme. The facility is expected to benefit thousands of women travellers by ensuring convenient access to sanitary products during journeys, particularly in emergency situations and on long-distance routes. The initiative is also expected to enhance passenger convenience and support women’s health and well-being across the railway network.
