Shri Vipin Kumar, AGM/Southern Railway, inspected Kumbakonam Railway Station on 12 March 2026, where he reviewed the proposed redevelopment plans for the station. During the visit, he also assessed the existing passenger amenities and facilities available at the station.

On the same day, Shri Vipin Kumar also inspected the ongoing works under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) at Thanjavur Railway Station to review the progress of development activities being carried out as part of the station upgradation project. Shri Balak Ram Negi, DRM/TPJ, along with Shri K. Hari Kumar, CPM/GS, and other branch officers were also present during the inspection and reviewed the progress of the works and discussed the implementation of the planned infrastructure improvements.
