General Manager, Central Railway unfurls the National Flag on the occasion of 77th Republic Day

Shri Vivek Kumar Gupta, General Manager, Central Railway unfurled the National Flag o­n the occasion of 77th  Republic Day at the Central Railway headquarters, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai o­n 26th  January, 2026.

Shri Gupta also inspected the Guard of Honour presented by the RPF contingent and released a bunch of balloons in tricolour to commemorate the occasion.

Shri Gupta while addressing the gathering conveyed warmest greetings to all railway personnel, their families and esteemed customers.

Congratulating the entire team of Officers & Employees, the General Manager said it is a matter of great honour and pride that Central Railway has been conferred by the Hon’ble Minister of Railways with 5 individual awards and 5 Shields at the 70th Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar-2025. 

He also congratulated the winning Divisions of the 24 Divisional Shields and 98 individual awardees of the Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar

Speaking o­n ease of travel, the General Manager announced introduction of 14 AC local services o­n the CSMT-Panvel Harbour line and modification of luggage coaches into dedicated coaches for Senior citizens in 2 EMU rakes. 

Speaking o­n passenger safety, Shri Gupta stated that passenger safety is accorded the highest priority and a number of Foot Over Bridges, Road Over Bridges and Road Under Bridges have been commissioned in addiition to elimination of level crossings and construction of Bridges and Boundary walls at various locations. Also 171 locomotives have been fitted with KAVACH.

Speaking o­n enhancing rail connectivity, the General Manager spoke o­n the newly inaugurated Ahilyanagar-Beed new rail line, commissioning of 101 kms of new lines/multitracking and 175 track kms of railway electrification. He further said that 5 new stations o­n Pune division and 2 new stations o­n Mumbai division have also been commissioned during the year.

He appreciated the efforts of  respective CR  teams for achieving increase of 8% in passenger earnings, achieving scrap sales of Rs.330 crores as part of the Zero Scrap Mission and receiving the Shunya Plus and Shunya Label from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, demonstrating Central Railway’s contribution & commitment to India’s mission of Net-Zero Carbon. He also appreciated the efforts of all the departments for achievements in their respective fields.

Shri Gupta congratulated CR sports persons and CR cultural artistes for bringing laurels to Central Railway in the field of sports and Arts respectively. 

Smt. Neeta Gupta, President, CRWWO in presence of  other executive members donated Wheel chair, Washing machine and other useful articles to Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, Byculla during the event.

On this occasion, a Dog Show by RPF and a mesmerising rendition of Vande Mataram by artistes of Central Railway Cultural Academy were also presented. 

The Republic Day celebrations were webcasted live o­n YouTube channel of Central Railway.

Smt. Neeta Gupta, President, CRWWO with other executive members, Shri Prateek Goswami,  Additional General Manager, Principal Heads of Department, Divisional Railway Manager and other officials were also present o­n the occasion.
