South Central Railway celebrated the 77th Republic Day on 26th January, 2026 at Railway Sports Complex Grounds, Secunderabad. Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway, who was the Chief Guest o­n the occasion unfurled the National Flag and received the Guard of Honour presented by various contingents of Railway Protection Force. Fourteen platoons representing Railway Protection Force (RPF), Civil Defence and Scouts & Guides took part in the March Past and presented Grand Salute to the General Manager o­n the occasion.

Delivering his address, Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava extended his greetings to the SCR fraternity and their family members o­n the occasion of 77th Republic day. He called upon each o­ne to celebrate unity in diversity and be responsible citizens who contribute positively to the development of our great nation. Speaking o­n the performance of SCR in the current financial year (2025-26), he stated that history has been created during the period with record performances in both passenger and freight segment. The Zone has registered a Gross Originating Revenue of Rs 15,579 crores between April and December 2025, with increase by 4% over the same period of last fiscal, he said. It is a proud moment for the zone that for the first time in the SCR history, the freight loading has crossed 100 Million Tonnes mark in the shortest ever period of just 257 days in the current fiscal, he added.

The General Manager informed that, towards enhancing safety, the Zone has completed track renewal of 643 Kms during the current financial year up to December. In terms of track addition, SCR has completed 30 Kms of doubling, 115 Kms of tripling and 2 Kms of Bypass line, he added. He stated that to enhance the section capacity in high density routes, Automatic Block Signalling has been commissioned for a total length of 435 Route Kms which is the highest ever progress by any Zonal Railways till now.

Further, he stated that for the benefit of the passengers, during this current financial year between April to December, 39 lifts and 19 escalators were commissioned and with this, 241 lifts and 100 escalators are available across the Zone. The zone has also started two new Amrit Bharat Express trains originating from Charlapalli towards Muzaffarpur and Thiruvananthapuram stations, he said. The Workshops of SCR are continuing with stellar performance with POH outturn of 2,352 Coaches surpassing the target of 2,340 coaches during this current financial year till December, he added.

Later, cultural programs viz., patriotic songs & dance performance by Railway employees, Railway School and College Students enthralled the gathering. The RPF Dog Squad performed various stunts which captivated the audience.
