Marking a major stride towards strengthening rail connectivity and enhancing passenger amenities, the foundation stone for the proposed Maheshmara Halt Station, located between Deoghar and Mohanpur stations under Asansol Division of Eastern Railway, was laid on 28th April, 2025 by Shri Nishikant Dubey, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, in the esteemed presence of Shri Chetna Nand Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Asansol, along with senior railway officials.

The new Maheshmara Halt will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹1.86 crore. Once operational, all trains moving towards Dumka and Godda will halt at the station, vastly improving travel options for the local populace. This facility will provide convenient rail access to a large section of Maheshmara’s residents, covering areas such as Baijnathpur, Bandha, Kunda, Karnibad, Bilasi, and Jhaunsagari. Nearby villages like Thadi, Aamgachhi, Vishanpur, Banda, and Singardih will also directly benefit. Additionally, the construction of this halt is expected to ease the challenges posed by the existing railway level crossing.

Responding to a long-standing demand of the local community, Maheshmara Halt Station is set to offer easier and more direct access to the railway network, reducing dependence on distant stations and simplifying daily travel for thousands.

Beyond easing commutes, the strategic location of the halt is anticipated to spur socio-economic growth in the surrounding areas by facilitating smoother transportation of people and goods. The project underscores Eastern Railway’s continued commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and expanding passenger-centric infrastructure.

The occasion drew an enthusiastic gathering of local residents, public representatives, and railway officials, reflecting the widespread support for the project and marking another important milestone in Eastern Railway’s journey of infrastructural advancement.
