Eastern Railway has taken strict action against unauthorized trespassing on railway tracks, which poses a severe risk to public safety. A recent incident in the Sonarpur–Canning section resulted in the swift arrest of the offender by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Sealdah Division.

A few days ago, between Sonarpur and Champahati, a bike rider deliberately placed his motorcycle on the railway track in front of an oncoming train and fled, leading to a collision. This reckless act caused significant disruption to railway services and passenger distress. Following the incident, the RPF acted promptly and apprehended the accused youth.

The offender has been identified as Sudipta Mistry (Male, 23), son of Sanjay Mistry, a resident of Purba Mali Pukuria, PS-Sonarpur, District South 24 Parganas (S), West Bengal. He has been arrested under Sections 174(b), 153 & 147 of the Railway Act for endangering railway safety and obstructing train operations.

This incident is a serious offense, posing a major threat to passenger safety and railway operations. Eastern Railway emphasizes that such actions not only risk lives and property but also disrupt essential services, inconveniencing thousands of commuters.

Eastern Railway urges the public to strictly avoid illegal trespassing. Railway tracks are public property, and violating safety rules is a punishable offense. Strict legal measures will be enforced against offenders.

Shri Deepak Nigam, Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah, has appealed to citizens to follow railway safety regulations and cooperate in preventing such incidents in the future.
