South Central Railway (SCR) has achieved a remarkable milestone under the "Mission Zero Scrap" initiative by generating its highest-ever revenue of ₹501.72 crores through the sale of scrap in the financial year 2024-25. This surpasses the Railway Board’s target of ₹430 crores and marks a significant increase from the ₹411.39 crores recorded in 2023-24.

SCR has been at the forefront of optimal resource utilization, leveraging e-auction sales through the Indian Railways E-Procurement System (IREPS) portal. This digital auction system has enhanced transparency, competitiveness, and efficiency in the bidding process, while also eliminating middlemen previously involved in manual auctions.

The Materials Management Department of SCR has effectively implemented the "Mission Zero Scrap" policy, ensuring that no scrap is stored beyond a month or a truckload quantity. This has led to:

• Efficient cleanup of workshops, railway units, and premises.
• Conversion of scrap materials into financial resources for the exchequer.
• Significant contribution to the "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" initiative.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR, commended the Materials Management Department for their outstanding efforts in achieving this milestone. He emphasized that the e-auction process has transformed business operations, fostering greater transparency and efficiency. He also highlighted how this digital approach has bridged the gap between Railways and bidders.
