Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Coal and Mines, Government of India, visited Begumpet Railway Station on 15th March 2025, and reviewed the Phase – I redevelopment works as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He was accompanied by Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR; Shri Bhartesh Kumar Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division, and other senior Railway officials.
Shri G. Kishan Reddy inspected the Phase – I works of Begumpet Amrit Station redevelopment, including the new station building with an improved façade, platform surface improvements, a 12-meter-wide Foot Over Bridge, escalators, lifts, booking counters, signages, waiting hall, etc. Later, addressing the media personnel at the station, the Hon’ble Union Minister stated that under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, Rail development in Telangana State is undergoing a fundamental change. He informed that 90% of the Begumpet Station redevelopment works have been completed and the station will soon be dedicated to the Nation. He stated that the station is being upgraded on par with airport-like standards with an expenditure of Rs. 38 crore in a phased manner. The new Begumpet Amrit Station will be entirely run by All Women Staff, he said.
Further, the Hon’ble Union Minister informed that Telangana State has been given a Railway budget allocation of Rs. 5,337 crore for the financial year 2025-26. He stated that an amount of Rs. 39,300 crore is being invested in various Railway projects in the state, including electrification, new lines, doubling, tripling, etc. He informed that the Railway network of Telangana is now 100% electrified. The Hon’ble Union Minister also informed that the ‘KAVACH’ Research Institute will soon be set up at Secunderabad. He stated that the indigenously developed Kavach technology will be installed across the nation’s network. He stated that 40 Railway stations in Telangana are being redeveloped under ABSS, and the works are progressing swiftly.
Earlier, Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR, presented the welcome address and briefed the media on the progress of work and salient features of the Begumpet Amrit station project. He stated that the Begumpet Railway Station is being developed as an eco-friendly green Railway station. It will be equipped with a water recycling plant to cater to the needs of greenery at the station.
