CENTRAL RAILWAY CONTRIBUTES SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE SUCCESS OF MAHA KUMBH - 3.85 LAKH DEVOTEES TRAVELLED

Central Railway played a crucial role in the success of Maha Kumbh 2025, facilitating the smooth travel of over 3.85 lakh devotees to Prayagraj, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. With a well-planned train service network, Indian Railways ensured a comfortable journey for pilgrims, operating a record 17,000+ train trips during the event.

Central Railway alone operated 823 trains from Mumbai, including 708 from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and 115 from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). Additionally, Pune operated 102 services (including 6 special trains), and Nagpur contributed 225 services (including 6 special trains). These services were meticulously planned for smooth travel.

In total, over 6,793 train stoppages were facilitated across various stations for Maha Kumbh 2025. Key stations saw significant train activity:

  • 383 trains at Thane
  • 687 trains at Kalyan
  • 723 trains at Bhusawal
  • 601 trains at Nashik
  • 537 trains at Manmad
  • 138 trains at Betul

Central Railway took several measures to ensure a safe and comfortable journey for the pilgrims, including scheduling additional trains and monitoring operations closely through CCTV surveillance. Senior railway officials remained vigilant round the clock to manage the heavy rush.
