South Central Railway launched the first Banana Export Train of the season on 22nd November, 2024 from Tadipatri, Andhra Pradesh in collaboration with the Container Corporation of India (CONCOR). This initiative marks a significant milestone in enhancing India's position in the global fruit export market. The train, carrying 680 tonnes of bananas, is being exported by SK Exports and is en route to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in Mumbai, from where the cargo will be distributed to key markets in the Middle East, including Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

This project is part of a broader effort to streamline the export of agricultural produce from India. With the support of Indian Railways, CONCOR is ensuring the reliable and efficient transportation of these bananas. Leveraging its extensive logistics network, CONCOR has provided end-to-end solutions, enabling smooth transit from farms to global destinations.

 SK Exports, a prominent player in the fruit export industry since 2019, has been instrumental in facilitating banana shipments to key markets in the Middle East, including Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. The company works closely with a network of over 20,000 farmers, offering them competitive prices and access to the latest agricultural technologies to improve crop quality. Through this collaboration with CONCOR, SK Exports is helping deliver high-quality Indian bananas to international retail shelves, benefiting local farmers and contributing to India’s economic growth.

This successful banana export initiative highlights the effective collaboration between farmers, exporters, CONCOR, and South Central Railway, setting a new model for global trade in agricultural commodities.
