Report any Suspicious Activity or Person Indulging in It to Helpline Number 139 to Check Anti-Social Elements Targeting Railways

Railway Minister Sh. Ashwini Vaishnaw reviews security meeting with field officials at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi amid Recent incidents targeting Railways. Ministers of State for Railways Sh. V. Somanna and Sh. Ravneet Singh Bittu were also present, besides the Chairman, Railway Board.

During the meeting, officials reviewed measures to strengthen intelligence gathering systems, improve field-level reporting and enhance operational coordination between Railway Board headquarters and field zones. It was noted that the initial probe into multiple recent incidents, including some fire incidents, indicated the involvement of anti-social elements. Indian Railways said these incidents are being taken seriously and the Railway Protection Force is actively investigating them. Officials also stated that prompt and proactive action by railway authorities in several cases helped avert major incidents.

The discussions further focused on expanding CCTV coverage across the railway network, strengthening cyber security, upgrading camera systems and deploying AI-based surveillance and monitoring tools. The meeting also emphasized improving coordination and information-sharing between the Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police for more effective security management. Railways urged passengers to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious activity or individuals on railway premises through helpline number 139.
