In a major boost to regional rail and road infrastructure, Shri V. Somanna, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, laid the foundation stone for a Road Over Bridge (ROB) in lieu of Level Crossing No. 77 at Hitnal, located between the Ginigera–Munirabad section on 5th January, 2026. The project, estimated to cost ₹26.97 crore, will be fully funded by the Railways.

The foundation stone–laying ceremony was attended by:

• Shri Shivaraj S. Tangadagi, Hon’ble Minister for Kannada and Culture and Backward Classes Welfare Department and District In-charge Minister of Koppal.
• Shri K. Rajashekar B. Hitnal, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Koppal.
• Shri K. Raghavendra B. Hitnal, Hon’ble Member of the Legislative Assembly, Koppal.
• Shri Shashil G. Namoshi, Hon’ble Member of the Legislative Council.
• Smt. Hemalatha Nayak, Hon’ble Member of the Legislative Council.
• Dr. Suresh B. Itnal, Deputy Commissioner, Koppal.

Shri T. V. Bhushan, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Hubballi Division, along with senior railway officials, was also present at the event.
