In a significant stride towards championing preventive healthcare and women's empowerment, Central Hospital, NCR Prayagraj conducted a highly impactful Tuberculosis Awareness and Screening Initiative under the flagship program Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan. This initiative reaffirmed the institution's unwavering commitment to holistic health and community outreach, especially among women.
Held under the visionary guidance of Dr. S.K. Handoo, Medical Director, the event marked a new milestone in the hospital’s efforts to elevate public health standards. “Health is not merely the absence of disease—it is the foundation of empowerment. At Central Hospital, we believe that a healthy woman nurtures a healthy family and, in turn, a stronger nation,” said Dr. Handoo in his remarks on the significance of the initiative.
The program was inaugurated by Dr. Usha S.P. Yadav, Nodal Officer, ACHD, who delivered a compelling address on the myths, causes, transmission, and prevention of Tuberculosis (TB). Her presentation, both insightful and informative, was met with keen interest and engagement from the audience.
Presided over by Dr. Kalpana Mishra, the event saw robust participation, drawing in 150 attendees, including female railway beneficiaries and hospital staff. The session created an open and safe space for knowledge-sharing, dialogue, and collective awareness-building—key tenets in the ongoing battle against TB.
“Knowledge is the first line of defense,” said Dr. D.C. Sharma, Visiting Consultant, while addressing the audience. “Early detection, education, and destigmatization are the cornerstones of effective TB control. We must dispel myths and replace them with medically accurate facts.” Following the session, several participants voluntarily came forward for TB screening, reflecting a growing sense of awareness, responsibility, and proactive health-seeking behavior within the community.
The program was lauded for its interactive format, combining expert talks with real-time engagement, making it not only a session of awareness but also of inspiration and empowerment. The participants expressed deep appreciation for the initiative, noting how such programs serve as eye-openers and catalysts for change.
From breaking barriers to building bridges of awareness, the event stands as a testament to the hospital’s dedication to “prevention over cure” and its alignment with national health goals.
As the saying goes, “When you educate a woman, you educate a generation.” Central Hospital, NCR Prayagraj continues to be a beacon of light in the healthcare landscape, steering towards a healthier, more empowered India—one woman, one family at a time.
