Bhadrachalam Road Railway Station, located in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, is undergoing a major redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), with an investment of Rs. 25.41 crores. The initiative is part of the modernization of 40 railway stations across Telangana at a cost of Rs. 2,737 crores. The scheme aims to provide world-class amenities and convert stations into regional growth hubs. The foundation stone was laid by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in August 2023 and February 2024.

This historic station, initially developed for coal transport during the Nizam era, now connects Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and Warangal. It also serves as a key transit point for pilgrims visiting the famous Sri Ramachandra Swamy Temple in Bhadrachalam.

The station falls under Secunderabad Division, is classified as Non-Suburban Grade-4 (NSG-4), and lies in the Dornakal–Manuguru section. It sees an average daily footfall of 8,020 passengers and annual earnings of Rs. 7.61 crores. Currently, 3 pairs of trains originate/terminate, and 2 trains halt at this station.

Key development works include:

• Upgraded façade, entrance portico
• 12m wide Foot Over Bridge with 1 lift & 1 escalator
• Improved platform surfaces & coverings
• Enhanced waiting halls, toilets (including Divyangjan facilities)
• Signage, coach/train indicator boards
• Circulating area improvement, landscaping
• Promotion of local art & culture

Over 45% of the work has been completed, with all activities progressing rapidly. Completion is expected in the coming months, promising enhanced comfort and convenience for rail users.
