South Central Railway (SCR) has achieved its highest-ever Gross Originating Revenue of ₹20,452 crores in FY 2024-25, surpassing the previous best of ₹20,335 crores in 2023-24 and ₹18,973 crores in 2022-23. This growth reflects consistent performance across freight and passenger segments.

A major contributor to this achievement is the Zone’s strong focus on freight operations. Emphasizing diversification of traffic and enhancement of commodity baskets, SCR implemented customer-centric initiatives, developed freight infrastructure, ensured wagon availability, and improved monitoring of freight trains and goods sheds. These efforts led to a record Originating Loading of 144.10 Million Tonnes and the highest-ever freight revenue of ₹13,825 crores—2% higher than the 2023-24 figures of 141.120 MTs and ₹13,620 crores.

On the passenger front, the Zone prioritized demand-based strategies, introducing new trains, running around 3,500 special trains, and attaching over 10,000 extra coaches to meet increased demand. As a result, SCR earned ₹5,710 crores in Originating Passenger Revenue, carrying 263.2 million passengers—an increase from 262.5 million in 2023-24.

Additionally, the Zone earned a record ₹513.6 crores in the other coaching segment, which includes parcel and ticket checking revenue, and ₹402.7 crores in sundry earnings such as parking, catering, and advertisements.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR, praised the dedication of the officers and staff, expressing great satisfaction over the milestone. He noted that achieving the best-ever revenue is a proud moment and places greater responsibility on the team to continue delivering high performance in the future.
