Eastern Railway's Howrah Division has once again demonstrated its dedication to cleanliness and environmental awareness through a special cleanliness and garbage-free awareness program held at Howrah Station. The event, conducted under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Shri Sanjeev Kumar, aimed to promote a cleaner and healthier environment while contributing to the national mission of a garbage-free India.

The program was organized by Shri Satyendra Kumar Tiwari, Sr. DEnHM/Howrah, along with other officers and officials, showcasing Eastern Railway’s commitment to cleanliness, hygiene, and maintaining a garbage-free environment.

The day's activities included a clean-up drive, street theatre, dance drama, awareness film screenings, and a live art installation, all designed to engage and educate passengers and the general public.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, stated, “As you all know, Howrah Station is one of the busiest stations in India, facing immense waste management challenges. Littering and spitting not only harm our surroundings but also pose serious health risks. This campaign is a call to action—urging everyone to take responsibility for public spaces. Keeping our station clean isn’t just the railway’s duty—it’s a shared responsibility. Small actions like proper waste disposal and avoiding single-use plastic can create a lasting impact. Let’s take pride in Bengal and make Howrah Station a model of cleanliness and civic responsibility.”

He also expressed his gratitude to Smt. Shruti Ghose, Director, Garbage Free India (GFI), Techno India, students from Sri Sri Academy, P.P. Memorial Academy, Theater Zone, Samik, Railway Scouts, and other officials for their enthusiastic participation and support.
