Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has commenced enhanced on-board services in five identified superfast trains from 10 October 2026, becoming the second zonal railway in Indian Railways to introduce these services. The initiative was formally launched at Guwahati Railway Station in the presence of the Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer (PCME), NFR, and other senior railway officials.
The enhanced services focus on improving coach cleanliness, maintaining better washroom hygiene, strengthening waste management and ensuring the efficient distribution of linen. The initiative also includes technical assistance and improved passenger complaint management to address issues during journeys more effectively.
A key feature of the initiative is the use of technology for real-time monitoring, passenger feedback, star ratings and AI-based assessment of cleaning standards. These measures are intended to improve housekeeping efficiency, strengthen service monitoring and ensure greater accountability in maintaining cleanliness on trains.
Through technology-enabled housekeeping teams and enhanced on-board services, N. F. Railway aims to provide cleaner coaches, improved passenger comfort and a more satisfactory travel experience. The initiative marks a step towards strengthening service quality and making rail journeys more convenient for passengers.
