Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shri Bhupender Yadav, and Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma virtually laid the foundation stone and dedicated various railway projects worth more than ₹400 crore in Rajasthan. State Minister Shri Sanjay Sharma, along with senior railway officials and other dignitaries, also attended the programme virtually.

Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw said redevelopment work worth ₹112 crore is progressing rapidly at Alwar Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Located on the important Delhi–Jaipur route, Alwar station handles heavy passenger movement daily and is being upgraded with modern traffic management systems, organised arrival and departure facilities, expanded parking arrangements and improved passenger amenities.

He stated that the redeveloped station is being designed in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi that railway stations should serve as connectors for cities. Entry and exit facilities are being developed on both sides of the station to improve urban connectivity, while station buildings are being constructed in accordance with Rajasthan’s cultural and architectural heritage. The redevelopment also includes modern platforms, foot overbridges, passenger circulation facilities and parking infrastructure.

The new station complex is being developed across nearly 16,000 square metres. The project includes an additional high-level platform, two foot overbridges with 6-metre width and nine modern lifts to improve passenger convenience. Dedicated pick-up and drop-off zones for private vehicles, taxis and auto-rickshaws are also being created. A new parking facility spread across around 4,500 square metres is being developed to improve accessibility and reduce congestion near the station. A comprehensive traffic circulation plan has also been prepared for the station’s outer area.

The redevelopment project further includes nearly 1,900 square metres of commercial development space. Railways stated that besides improving passenger facilities, the project is expected to strengthen Alwar’s role as a growing centre for tourism, trade and employment.

The Railway Minister said that under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Govind Garh, Rajgarh and Khairthal stations in the Alwar region have already been completed. Across Rajasthan, redevelopment work is underway at 85 stations, out of which 15 stations have been completed. These include Barmer, Bundi, Dausa, Deeg, Deshnok, Fatehpur Shekhawati, Gangapur City, Gogamedi, Govind Garh, Rajgarh, Khairthal, Jaisalmer, Mandalgarh, Mandawar Mahwa Road and Somesar. Across the country, 1,340 stations have been identified for redevelopment under the scheme.

Shri Vaishnaw said Rajasthan currently has five Vande Bharat Express trains and one Amrit Bharat Express in operation. Several train services introduced during the past one year include the Delhi–Jodhpur and Delhi–Bikaner Vande Bharat Express services, Udaipur City–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express, Swarna Nagri Express between Jaisalmer and Delhi, Hyderabad–Jodhpur Bhagat Ki Kothi Express and Pune–Jodhpur Express. He added that 46 new trains have been introduced for Rajasthan in recent years.

Highlighting investment growth, Shri Vaishnaw stated that Rajasthan’s railway budget allocation has increased to ₹10,228 crore under the present government compared to around ₹682 crore earlier. He also said nearly 3,900 kilometres of railway tracks have been laid in Rajasthan since 2014.

Ten Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals have already been commissioned at locations including Marwar Mundwa, Khemli, Bhupal Sagar, Sonu, Hanwant, Sundlak, Mandalgarh, New Saradhana, Hirnoda and Kairla. Six additional terminals are under construction at Jogi Magra, Lanela, Dhankya, Kota Junction, Nawalgarh and Biradhwal, while approval has also been granted for eight more cargo terminals.

The Railway Minister said Indian Railways is committed to supporting industries in Rajasthan by providing seamless freight connectivity for sectors including cement, textiles, handicrafts, semiconductors and engineering products.

He further highlighted ongoing railway infrastructure projects in the state, including doubling works on the Agra–Bandikui, Ajmer–Chittorgarh, Bikaner–Lalgarh, Churu–Sadulpur and Luni–Bhildi sections. Gauge conversion works are progressing on the Dholpur–Sirmathura–Gangapur City and Devgarh Madariya–Nathdwara routes. Other projects include the Mathura–Jhansi third line, Mathura–Nagda third and fourth lines, Nimach–Badi Sadri new line and Pushkar–Merta City new line.

Doubling work on the Rewari–Khatuwas and Ringus–Sikar sections is also underway. Shri Vaishnaw added that projects including the Sheopur Kalan–Kota new line, Taranga Hill–Abu Road new line and Umra–Debari doubling are progressing rapidly across Rajasthan.

Shri Bhupender Yadav thanked the Railway Ministry for strengthening rail connectivity in the Alwar region and said several train services have been introduced or extended for passenger convenience. He stated that the redeveloped Alwar Railway Station would reflect the architectural identity and grandeur of Rajasthan and emerge as one of the finest railway stations in the state. He also appreciated the completion of multiple railway overbridge and underpass projects benefiting Khairthal, Kishangarh Bas, Behror and nearby regions.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma said the state is benefiting from improved connectivity with Delhi, which is helping industrial and transport growth. He stated that industrial centres including Bhiwadi, Neemrana and Khushkhera are being linked through enhanced railway and transport infrastructure. He added that two major connectivity corridors, including a railway line towards Alwar and an RRTS corridor towards Behror, are being planned to improve regional integration and transportation infrastructure.
