Shri Janak Kumar Garg, Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety, New Delhi Inspects BLW, Reviews Modern Technology and Safety Systems

Shri Janak Kumar Garg, Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety, New Delhi, conducted a detailed inspection of Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) on 20 February 2026. During his visit, he made an in-depth review of the locomotives manufactured at BLW, their advanced manufacturing processes, quality standards, and safety measures.

Upon his arrival at the workshop, the Chief Electrical Engineer, Shri Arvind Kumar Jain, warmly welcomed him by presenting a bouquet. Thereafter, he inspected the Loco Frame Shop, Loco Assembly Shop, Truck Machine Shop, and Loco Test Shop, reviewing the quality of manufacturing processes and safety standards, and issued necessary directions.

During the inspection, the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Shri Sushil Kumar Srivastava, presented detailed information about the various types of locomotives manufactured at BLW, their state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies, high quality standards, and safety measures.

On this occasion, the Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, Shri Vivek Sheel; Principal Chief Materials Manager, Shri Alok Agrawal; principal Financial Advisor , Shri Muktesh Mittal; and Principal Chief Personnel Officer, Shri Lalji Chaudhary, along with other senior officials, were also present.

The objective of the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety’s visit was to conduct a first-hand inspection of the advanced manufacturing systems, quality control mechanisms, and safety arrangements of locomotives produced at BLW, with a view to further strengthening railway safety standards.
