Southern Railway celebrated the 77th Republic Day today (26.01.2025) at the Railway Stadium, Perambur, Chennai.  Shri R.N. Singh, General Manager, Southern Railway unfurled the National Flag in the presence of Shri K. Arul Jothi, IG-cum-Principal Chief Security Commissioner, RPF, and took the salute at the RPF parade consisting of RPF contingents including Women Platoons and St John's Ambulance Brigade.

The Republic Day programme was attended by Shri Naveen Gulati, Former Member of Railway Board, Shri Vipin Kumar, Additional General Manager, Principal Heads of Departments of Southern Railway, Shri Shailendra Singh, Divisional Railway Manager/Chennai, Smt Sonia Singh, President of Southern Railway Women's Headquarters Organisation,  Smt Charu Gupta, Vice President of Southern Railway Women's Headquarters Organisation,  Railway Officers & Staff and their family members, and  Representatives of Labour  Unions and Associations of Southern Railway.

Addressing the gathering, the General Manager said that Indian Railways takes pride in its committed workforce, whose dedicated efforts have played a vital role in the Nation’s growth and integration. The General Manager also underlined Southern Railway’s steady contribution to the development of Indian Railways through continuous expansion and modernization of the rail network, along with the introduction of improved and passenger-friendly services. Performance highlights of the Zone in various facets of working were also outlined by the General Manager.

Cultural programmes by RPF, Impressive Dog Show by Southern Railway Dog Squad and performances by various departments including the Railway schools and Ashraya school for special children, followed the Flag Unfurling and March Past.  

Shri Sushil Kumar Maurya, Chief Administrative Officer, Railway Construction Organisation, Egmore, Shri Shailendra Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai, and Shri D.Neelakantan, Chief Workshop Manager, Perambur Loco Works unfurled the National flag at their respective Railway offices in Chennai.

Smt Jayanthi, Additional Registrar, Railway Claims Tribunal, Chennai and Smt Pratibha Devendra Yadav, Chairman, Railway Recruitment Board, Chennai also unfurled the National flag at their respective Railway offices in Chennai.
