To mark the Commemoration of 150 years of India’s National Song – “Vande Mataram”, a Mass Singing of the full version of the song was organized at Western Railway Headquarters, Churchgate, o­n 7th November, 2025. The celebration was held in conjunction with the main ceremony led by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. The programme at Headquarters was conducted under the leadership of Shri Vivek Kumar Gupta, General Manager, Western Railway, and witnessed enthusiastic participation of Principal Head of Departments, Senior Officers, and staff.

According to a press release issued by Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, in alignment with nationwide commemoration, the collective rendition of “Vande Mataram” was organized across Western Railway, including the Headquarter Office, all Divisions, and Workshops, to mark the 150 glorious years of our National Song and to reaffirm the shared ideals of unity, harmony, and devotion to the Nation. The event was conducted with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm and witnessed active participation from officers and staff at all levels, who joined the national programme in a spirit of pride and patriotism.

The year 2025 marks 150 years since the composition of “Vande Mataram” by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, written o­n Akshaya Navami, which was o­n 7th November 1875, and first appeared in the literary journal Bangadarshan as part of his novel Anandamath. Over the decades, the song has become an immortal symbol of India’s independence, unity, and national pride.

Through this collective initiative, Western Railway proudly joins the nation in celebrating this historic occasion and reaffirms its commitment to uphold the spirit of patriotism, service, and dedication to the Nation that “Vande Mataram” embodies.
