• South Central Railway Observes Vigilance Awareness Week
• 58th Edition of Vigilance Bulletin ‘Animisha’ released on the occasion

South Central Railway is observing “Vigilance Awareness Week – 2025” from 27th October to 02nd November, 2025 with the theme “सतर्कता - हमारी साझा जिम्मेदारी” - “Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility”. To commemorate the Vigilance Awareness week, an inaugural function was held on 27th October, 2025 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Shri K. Padmanabhaiah, IAS (Retd.), Chairman, Administrative Staff College of India was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Shri Satya Prakash, Additional General Manager, SCR was the Guest of Honour. Principal Heads of the Departments, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division and other senior officials and staff were also present on the occasion.

The function started with the Additional General Manager, SCR administering the Integrity pledge to the officers and staff. On the occasion, the Chief Guest, Shri K. Padmanabhaiah along with Additional General Manager, SCR released the 58th edition of Vigilance Bulletin “ANIMISHA”. The bulletin is also available on the official website of South Central Railway.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri K. Padmanabhaiah, IAS (Retd), Chairman, Administrative Staff College of India – stated that Railways and Defense are the pillars of the country. He stated that Railways has been connecting India and bringing together people of various cultures across the Nation. He admired the work of the Indian Railways and acknowledged its contribution to the Indian Economy.

Speaking on the theme of Vigilance Awareness Week, 2025 – he highlighted that “Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility” is not just a slogan but a call for action. He stressed on the importance of preventive vigilance and encouraged every individual to be their own vigilance officer. Shri K. Padmanabhaiah drew parallels between the working of vigilance department and the key components of good governance viz. Openness, adherence to rule of law, transparency, citizen-centric and participative approach. He emphasized that applying these principles in day-to-day working of the vigilance department will reduce the vigilance cases and further enhance the overall efficiency of the department. He highlighted the importance of following the prescribed procedures and rules without any deviation. He also cautioned against the rise of cyber fraud and called for detailed study to prevent any such cases.

Earlier, Shri Satya Prakash, Additional General Manager, SCR addressed the gathering. He stated that the theme for Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 - “Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility” holds deep relevance not only for Indian Railways but for the society at large. He stated that vigilance is a collective responsibility that each individual must uphold through their actions, decisions and integrity. He stated that in an organization like SCR where thousands of employees work every day to ensure smooth operations, even a small lapse in integrity can affect safety, customer confidence, finance and public trust. He emphasized that therefore we must foster an environment where honesty is encouraged, transparency is practiced and ethical conduct is appreciated. Honesty and integrity must be celebrated, respected and admired to have a happy and just society, he added.

During the function, a skit was enacted by the officers and staff highlighting the ill effects of corruption and spreading the underlying message of Vigilance Awareness Week. As a part of outreach activities, Students of Railway Schools and Colleges participated in English/Hindi Essay writing and Poster Painting competitions on theme given by CVC. Prizes were distributed to the winners during the function.
