Shri Vipin Kumar joined the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) in 1988. Over his long and distinguished career, he has held various technical and managerial assignments across zones including South Central Railway, Northern Railway, South Western Railway, South Eastern Railway, Eastern Railway and North Central Railway. He has led large-scale infrastructure projects across railways, metros, highways, and tunnels, demonstrating competence across multi-disciplinary domains.

Mr. Kumar held the post of Chief Administrative Officer/Construction of North Central Railway before assuming the charges of AGM, Southern Railway.  Earlier, he held the post of Senior Deputy General Manager (SDGM) in Eastern Railway and Principal Chief Engineer of Rail Wheel Factory, Bengaluru.

Having graduated from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad, Shri Vipin pursued post-graduation in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

He now succeeds Shri Kaushal Kishore who superannuated in August 2025.
