Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager of South Central Railway, convened a comprehensive Safety Review Meeting on September 1, 2025, at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, underscoring SCR’s unwavering commitment to safe train operations. The session was attended by Shri Satya Prakash, Additional General Manager, Principal Heads of Departments, and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) from all six divisions: Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Nanded, who joined via video conference.
The General Manager placed strategic emphasis on safety measures across vulnerable operational zones, including:
- Train shunting operations and derailment prevention protocols
- Structural integrity of bridges and tunnels
- Signal visibility and alarm systems
- Track blanketing and ballasting
- Emergency equipment readiness
Special attention was given to Road Under Bridges (RUBs) prone to waterlogging, with directives to reinforce safety barriers, upgrade signaling systems, and ensure robust alarm mechanisms.
To elevate safety standards, Shri Srivastava instructed officials to:
- Conduct round-the-clock monitoring and frequent inspections at critical locations.
- Ensure immediate completion of repair work at vulnerable sites.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date operational registers.
- Adhere strictly to Railway Board’s guidelines for all safety-related activities.
- Implement staff sensitization programs, including group meetings and one-on-one counseling for safety category personnel.
The General Manager stated that all supervisors should constantly monitor field-level activity and that any issue should be attended to instantly and rectified at the earliest. He also advised the officials to adhere to the Railway Board’s guidelines on taking up any safety activity. He concluded the meeting with instructions to train and sensitize the safety category staff through group meetings and individual counseling sessions.
