In a significant move to provide relief to stranded tourists and passengers, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway, in close coordination with GRP and the district administration, successfully ran two special trains on August 28, 2025.

These special services were planned to assist passengers who were stuck in the Jammu region after regular train services were suspended due to the havoc caused by heavy rainfall.

The first special train, 02238 for Banaras, departed Jammu at 15:45 hrs carrying an estimated 1200-1400 passengers. A second special, 04680 bound for New Delhi, followed at 17:40 hrs with approximately 1200 people safely on board.

The entire operation was carried out by dedicated railway teams under the guidance of DRM Sh. Vivek Kumar and SrDCM Sh. Uchit Singhal. The GRP and RPF personnel also played a prominent role in managing the crowd and settling the passengers in the trains.

Stranded passengers were visibly elated and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the railway administration for the proactive and smooth arrangements, which came as a major relief after being stuck due to the severe weather.
