Western Railway’s Mumbai Central Division has launched the NAMASTE Abhiyan—“NAMrata Aur Strong Ticket Examination”—a campaign blending discipline with humility to enhance ethical enforcement of railway rules.

Rooted in values like dignity, empathy, safety, accountability, and public interest, the initiative aims to empower ticket checking staff, uphold their rights, and improve passenger experience.

Under this Abhiyan, a massive ticket-checking operation was conducted at Borivali station on 6th August 2025, involving 300+ staff from Ticket Checking, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Government Railway Police (GRP). The drive detected 5,200 ticketless travellers and collected ₹13.50 lakh in penalties.

To enhance safety and transparency, specially designed protective vests have been provided to TTEs. These vests include compartments for:

• Body cameras
• Hand Held Terminals (HHT)
• Excess Fare Ticket (EFT) books
• Mini speakers for public announcements

This tech integration safeguards staff physically and legally, while ensuring transparent passenger interactions.

Additionally, pre-custody areas under CCTV surveillance have been set up within station premises. These zones allow controlled, respectful handling of ticketless travellers, reducing conflicts and ensuring fair treatment.

Workshops conducted by the Commercial Department focus on effective communication and professional conduct, further reinforcing the Abhiyan’s core values.

The NAMASTE Abhiyan is a proactive model of ethical governance—not just enforcing rules but doing so with sensitivity and strength. It promotes trust, protects public property, and boosts the morale of frontline staff.

NAMASTE is more than a greeting—it’s a pledge:
“We will uphold discipline with dignity.
We will be humble, yet strong in our duty.”

Through NAMASTE, Western Railway is building a safer, respectful, and accountable railway ecosystem for all.
