In a focused drive to enhance train safety and punctuality, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Howrah Division, under the guidance of Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Shri Chokka Raghuveer, has intensified its action against the misuse of the Alarm Chain Pulling (ACP) system during the period from 1st June to 22nd June 2025.

Alarm Chain Pulling, when done without a valid emergency, disrupts train operations and poses significant safety risks. As part of this initiative, the RPF apprehended 102 individuals for unauthorized ACP incidents during the current month. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them under Section 141 of the Railways Act, 1989. Passengers are reminded that misuse of the alarm chain may lead to immediate arrest and termination of the journey. Such actions not only cause operational delays but also endanger the safety of all passengers onboard.

To curb this offence, RPF Howrah Division has strengthened surveillance through increased onboard deployment of RPF personnel, enhanced CCTV monitoring, and frequent surprise checks across trains and stations.

The RPF appeals to all passengers to use emergency systems responsibly and only in genuine situations. Misuse of safety features is a serious punishable offence and will invite strict legal consequences.
