Shri Panna Lal took over charge as Divisional Railway Manager of Salem Division on 15th May 2025, succeeding Shri Pankaj Kumar Sinha as the 9th DRM of the division.

Shri Panna Lal belongs to the 1995 batch of IRSE (Indian Railway Service of Engineers) and joined as an Assistant Engineer at Bhimavaram in Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway in 1998. Thereafter, he worked as ADEN (Assistant Divisional Engineer) in Ongole and as XEN (Executive Engineer)/Track in South Central Railway. Subsequently, he worked as Deputy Chief Engineer/Construction in different projects in East Central Railway. Furthermore, he worked as Senior Divisional Engineer in Varanasi Division of North Eastern Railway and as Deputy Chief Engineer/Bridges/Headquarters in North Eastern Railway. Shri Panna Lal also worked as Deputy Chief Engineer in Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi for 6 years. Thereafter, he worked as Chief Engineer/Construction in North Eastern Railway for 3.5 years and as Chief Engineer/Station Development and Chief Engineer/Planning & Design in North Eastern Railway.Apart from these, Shri Panna Lal has undergone foreign training at INSEAD / SINGAPORE and ICLIF/MALAYSIA. He has been presented various awards at the General Manager's level
