MEDICAL EXPERTS RAISE AWARENESS ON KIDNEY DISEASE PREVENTION AT DIVISIONAL RAILWAY HOSPITAL, MALDA

A crucial awareness program on kidney disease prevention was successfully conducted at the Divisional Railway Hospital, led by Dr. B. P. Bala, Professor and Head of the Department of Malda Medical College, and Dr. Tapan Halder. The session aimed to educate patients, doctors, and paramedical staff on the early signs and symptoms of kidney disease, childhood kidney conditions and their long-term effects, as well as preventive strategies for chronic kidney disease in individuals with hypertension and diabetes.

The experts emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, lifestyle modifications, and timely medical interventions to reduce the risk of chronic kidney disease progressing to dialysis or renal transplantation. They also provided guidance on managing high blood pressure and diabetes—two leading causes of kidney failure—to ensure better patient outcomes.

The program saw active participation from around 30 individuals, including patients, doctors, and paramedical professionals, fostering an interactive discussion on best practices for kidney health.

Such initiatives play a vital role in promoting community awareness and proactive healthcare, ultimately contributing to improved disease management and patient well-being.
