The tenure of Rahul Mithal as Chairman and Managing Director of RITES Ltd. has been extended beyond October 6, 2026, until his superannuation on June 30, 2027. The Ministry of Railways communicated the decision to RITES through a letter dated August 20, 2026. The order states that the extension will remain effective until June 30, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Mithal will continue to lead the railway consultancy and engineering company during the extended tenure.

RITES Limited is a government-owned engineering and consultancy company under the Ministry of Railways. Its business includes engineering, consultancy and project management work across transport infrastructure, with railways forming a major part of its operations.
