DFCCIL Managing Director Praveen Kumar conducted an inspection of the Udhna–Makarpura section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) by rail car to assess operational preparedness, asset maintenance and ongoing business development initiatives. He was accompanied by senior DFCCIL officials, including S. P. Verma, GGM/BD&BA; Sudeep Prasad, AGM/CC; J. K. Agrawal, AGM/BD; Govind Prasad Saini, CGM/Ahmedabad; Alok Mishra, AGM/Civil/ADI; and other officials.
During the visit, the Managing Director reviewed the progress of the Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals (GCTs) at New Gothangam and New Ankleshwar, assessed the development of the Sawariya Shakti siding, and interacted with GCT representatives to discuss measures for increasing freight traffic and promoting a greater shift of cargo movement from road to rail.
The inspection also focused on infrastructure upkeep and sustainability initiatives. The Managing Director stressed the importance of effective asset maintenance, large-scale plantation, the adoption of solar energy and water harvesting as part of DFCCIL's efforts to develop sustainable railway infrastructure.
