The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) achieved a major milestone with the successful trial run of the first goods train between New Saphale and Kharbav (IR) stations on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC).

The inaugural run was flagged off by Shri Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, DFCCIL, in the presence of Shri Shobhit Bhatnagar, Director (OP&BD); Shri Anurag Sharma, Director (Infrastructure); and Shri Parmod Kumar, CVO, along with other senior officials.

This significant achievement marks a crucial step towards the operational readiness and near completion of the corridor, designed to revolutionize freight movement across India’s western industrial belt.

The Vaitarna–Kharbav stretch, part of the JNPT–Vaitarna section, plays a pivotal role in enhancing port-hinterland connectivity and enabling faster movement of high-volume cargo to and from the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) — one of India’s busiest gateways for international trade.
