IRCON has successfully commissioned a 2.561 km cut and connection at Kathautia yard, a crucial step in the ongoing construction of the Shivpur-Kathautia railway line. This project, being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model involving CCL, IRCON, and the Government of Jharkhand, spans across Hazaribagh and Chatra districts.

With this achievement, the commissioning of a 14 km new railway track from Kathautia to Duari moves closer to completion, significantly enhancing rail connectivity near NTPC’s Kerendari Mines. Once operational, the project is expected to generate around 1 million tons of freight annually, boosting coal transportation from Duari to thermal power plants in Bihar.

This milestone highlights IRCON’s commitment to infrastructure development in tribal areas, fostering economic growth and improving logistics in the region. The new railway line will play a vital role in strengthening the coal supply chain, ensuring efficient energy distribution while contributing to regional prosperity.
