Ensuring Health and Safety of Devotees During Maha Kumbh Mela: Ministry of Ayush's Comprehensive Healthcare Services

The Ministry of Ayush has extended comprehensive healthcare services to over eight lakh pilgrims, ensuring their sacred journey during the Maha Kumbh Mela is both safer and healthier. To provide continuous medical care, 20 Ayush OPDs were set up, along with mobile health units, with over 90 doctors and 150 healthcare workers tirelessly supporting devotees, kalpvasis, and saints, especially during the Mahashivratri bath.

Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Nodal Officer for Ayush at the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh, shared that the Ministry successfully catered to the healthcare needs of over eight lakh devotees, reflecting growing trust in traditional Indian medicine. In addition to medical care, therapeutic yoga sessions conducted by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) promoted physical and mental well-being among pilgrims.

To ensure seamless access to healthcare, three Ayush Convention Halls were set up in Sector-2, Sector-21, and Sector-24, where daily yoga and wellness sessions educated pilgrims on preventive healthcare, disease management, and holistic living. Special health screenings were conducted for sadhus and saints in prominent Akharas like Juna, Anand, Niranjani, and Vaishnav Akharas.

Mobile Ayush health units distributed essential medicines throughout the Mela area, and health check-ups were provided at various Ayush facilities. The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) also launched a special initiative, distributing 10,000 Ayush Raksha kits containing Ayurvedic medicines and wellness products. A week-long health camp benefitted 15,000 pilgrims.

Promoting natural healing, the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) distributed over 25,000 medicinal plants, such as Tulsi, Ashwagandha, and Neem, reinforcing the importance of medicinal plants in daily life.

The Ministry of Ayush integrated traditional healthcare into the Mela, ensuring a holistic wellness experience for all attendees.
