A species-specific campaign titled “Shatavari – For Better Health” was launched on 06th Feb, 2025, by Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, to raise awareness about the health benefits of Shatavari. The event was attended by Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Dadhich, CEO, National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), and other senior officials.

In his address, Shri Prataprao Jadhav acknowledged the Ministry of Ayush's progress over the last decade and praised NMPB’s initiative. He also referenced previous successful campaigns for Amla, Moringa, Giloy, and Ashwagandha, which spread awareness about medicinal plants nationwide.

The Minister highlighted Shatavari's role in achieving the Panch Pran Goal outlined by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in his 2022 Independence Day speech. The Prime Minister’s vision is to make India a developed nation by 2047, with Shatavari identified as crucial for enhancing women’s health, aligning with the broader goal of holistic well-being.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha elaborated on NMPB’s role in promoting medicinal plants and discussed the Central Sector Scheme for the Conservation, Development, and Sustainable Management of Medicinal Plants. He emphasized Shatavari’s importance for women’s health and its agro-economic potential.

Dr. Mahesh Kumar Dadhich shared that ₹18.9 Lakhs will be provided to eligible organizations to support the campaign and promote Shatavari’s adoption across India.

Shatavari, known for its health benefits, especially for women’s health and immunity, will receive focused attention through this campaign. It marks another significant step in the Ministry of Ayush’s ongoing efforts to promote traditional medicine and medicinal plants for better health in India.
